What animal has a black tongue?

A giraffe of course! We got to see for ourselves today. We were at the zoo in time for the giraffe's feeding time today! We got to feed a giraffe! Peter was a little curious but as the giraffe came at us with his tongue out Peter started clinging to me and leaned away. Giraffes are cool but they can be a little intimidating. After all, his head is about the same size as Peter's whole body!

We invited some of the Meetup Moms to join as at the zoo early this morning. We started at 9am so we could get through the zoo before it got too hot out. Luckily that meant that the animals were still pretty perky.

I got Peter dressed in his safari outfit but he insisted on wearing his red shoes and red hat. So much for color coordinating!

Peter seemed to be a ladies man today. He hung out a lot with Genevieve, the girl in the flower dress. She's a month older than him.

This trip to the zoo was much more calm than the last time. Last time there were school field trips and now it was much quieter. The little ones actually got to play in the splash zone without being disturbed by older kids. I think they stayed in there almost 30 minutes before we finally dragged them out.

Peter is fascinated by the old fashioned water pump. He was trying to figure out how to pump the handle up and down to get more water. I kept worrying that he was going to pinch his fingers!

Peter got soaked. Luckily I knew enough to bring a change of clothes.

He had so much fun. The zoo is a fun place to go in the mornings when its still cool out.
