By the end of the weekend Peter was feeling better and ready to go again. I kept him home an extra day after all his symptoms were gone but he had SO MUCH ENERGY! He tore the apartment apart! The pots and containers on the bottom shelves were dragged out into the living room. He stood on his tip toes and got the mail on the counter then scattered it across the floor. The dog's water was knocked over to flood the kitchen. The shelves were empty with piles of books and dvd's at the foot of them.
It was like a hurricane hit. A week's worth of mischief-making was compacted into just a few hours! After one day of that I decided that it was time to get back to our playdates. It has been beautiful here lately, in the mid-70's so we have been going to the park nearly every day this week.
Peter has a new obsession with slides. We found a brand new kind of slide that was made of the kind of rollers you find in big factories. Peter loved rolling down the bumpy slide. He went down it about 30 times. Jen even went down it about a dozen times. After the first few times your bottom starts to hurt on all the bumps!
Peter has learned how to ride swings on his belly like he is flying.
One of our mommy friends brought their BIG dog. Peter tried to put his hat on the dog's head.
Peter has been having so much fun running around the park with all of his friends. He is learning how to climb different kinds of steps and ladders.
He has been super happy to be out and running around exploring the park. I think he is learning the word "park". Even if he isn't on the playground he stays busy ducking under picnic tables and chasing birds. He loves having the freedom to climb, run, and play.
Peter is liking overalls lately. And he looks so cute in them! It is cool enough in the morning to wear them now. I'm glad he has some protection over his knees. He got some new shoes from Payless that are wonderful. They slip on and off really quickly and I got them in the big 50% off sale a few weeks ago for $7. When we come home from the park they are always filled with sand!
Peter has gotten more and more brave with slides. After watching other kids go down slides he carefully approached them and started going down all by himself. He doesn't even need to go down on his tummy anymore!
He goes down curly-cue slides and tube slides. There was even one slide at the playground that I was scared to look down. It looked like it went straight down and I would probably never go down it myself. But my son did!!! He did it so quick that I almost missed it! He is amazingly brave!
He has even started out on his bottom and half-way down flipped to his tummy. What a talented little kid!
