Peter is addicted to Superman. He insists on wearing his Superman costume every morning. The only way I get it off him is to let him carry it in a bucket when we go out to the car. He takes it to bed and sleeps with it. And yet, I don't think he knows who Superman is. This week Daddy sat down with Peter to watch the Superman movie.
Peter's Superman costume is seeing its last days. It's supposed to be a 2T-3T but his legs are already too long and the neck barely snaps. It's seeing its last days. It's got rips in several spots and his diaper hangs out the back of it now. One too many jumps from the couch or somersaults on the floor. I'm hoping I'll find a bigger size on clearance after Halloween.
Oh no! There were scary parts in the movie!
Peter also likes to steal daddy's Superman hat. And he got a special treat at the mall this past week when we found a Superman monster truck. He takes that just about everywhere he takes the costume. He is a happy boy!!!
Here's a little video of our little "Super Peter!"

Pump It Up Halloween (video)
Tuesday we had a fun Halloween party at Pump It Up, the bouncy house place. We decided to switch it up and wear a different costume to this party. Peter has about 6 costumes to choose from right now. Since he gets a good work out in the bounce houses he wore his Buzz Lightyear costume which breathes a little easier than some of the heavy flannel ones.
He had a great time running around as "Buzz Year" and saying "Up Up Away!" He even ran into another Buzz and thought that was super cool!
About halfway through he got a time out for getting a little too physical. Poor kid, all that bouncing and jumping makes the adrenaline go and hitting can start, especially when kids accidentally bump each other. He hates sitting on the bench watching his friends have fun. Time outs here are always hard!
He had lots of fun jumping with his buddies.
Peter also passed another milestone this week. He did his first somersault all by himself! I want to sign the boy up for gymnastics now! Here's a little video of him playing...and even doing a somersault!

Pirate Party
Last weekend we went to a pirate birthday party for Peter's friend Jesse, who was turning 3. Peter got to wear his skeleton skateboard shirt so he was excited.
You may be able to take the boy out of the Superman outfit, but you can't take the Superman out of the boy! Peter still insisted on doing his Superman pose!
Peter made a quick beeline for the goodies and "treasure" scattered on the table.
Both he and the birthday boy have the same personality...they were both running around with oodles of necklaces bouncing on their chests.
Sadly, Peter had to get put in time out because he kept running out into the street. He got grounded inside the house for about half the party for repeatedly not listening and bolting towards the street. (He was trying to run to the car and get his Superman costume from the backseat.) Don't feel too bad for him though...there were tons of toys and friends inside too.
At the end of the party Peter got to try a pinata for the first time. He loved being able to hit something with a big stick! He hated having to give other kids a turn.
Once the big kids got at the pinata they tore it apart! Peter ran in to get some "treats".
He ended up very happy with a big bag of treats.

28 weeks: The Final Trimester!
It's official! I am now in the final trimester! 28 weeks aka 7 months pregnant! Only about 80 days to go until our new little boy is due! I imagine he will just show up one day and I will be surprised and not at all prepared. I feel like we haven't done much to get ready for him except look through name books.
The past few weeks I've slowed down a bit. My back hurts more now, it takes more effort to get up and down, and I hate to bend over. Thankfully I have a "super" helper in my little Superboy Peter. He will help me pick things up off the floor and is learning that I can't always lift him up anymore.
My latest ultrasound they said that the baby is measuring a few weeks ahead. I'm not sure if I place much faith in them though...they said the same thing about Peter and estimated he would be nearly twice what he ended up being when he came out. In any case, they say baby is 3 lbs already. And still a little over 2 months to go!
Biggest news is that I finally got my insulin pump and have been on it now for two weeks. It was strange to not have to get up and do an injection every time I eat, now I just have to push a few buttons and the little machine does it for me. It's about the size of a beeper and filled with 3-4 days worth of insulin delivered via a tube that is in my stomach. It's awfully convenient!
I am still trying to figure out how to carry the darn thing. My maternity pants are too elastic to hold the heavy little beeper up and half of them don't have pockets so it is getting put in my bra most of the time which isn't super comfortable. And nighttime is even more of a challenge! Oh well, I will figure it out eventually.
The hardest thing to get used to has been the new insulin I am using. My insulin resistance is much higher in pregnancy and they changed me to U-500 insulin which is 5x's more potent. This means adjusting numbers but it also has a slower reaction time so I have to plan ahead what I will be eating so I can dose correctly. I've had a lot more highs and lows trying to get it right.
My blood pressure was also starting to creep up a bit so they started me on some medication for that last week. My blood pressure went from 152/89 to 111/63. No wonder I have been feeling so faint lately! Ultimately, they said that was good for the baby though.
I'm sure this last part will just fly by. Thanksgiving and Xmas always do. I'm excited for the holiday season to start but a little anxious at the surprise that will come at the end. Before we know it a new Palmer will be arriving!

Howl-o-ween
Last night we pushed back Peter's bedtime to head out to Howl-o-ween, trick-or-treating at the zoo. (I hate that all the Halloween activities disrupt bedtime but what can you do!?) Peter was so excited when we got to the street with the zoo. I have no idea how he could see it in the dark, but he did and immediately started clapping in his carseat and yelling "ZOO ZOO!" When we got there there were several long lines to stand in, but thankfully everyone was in good spirits. Peter had a hard time staying in line so while daddy held our place in line we went to visit some of the signs and walk around looking at costumes.
Peter was amazed that other people were dressed up too! "Tume like Peter, mom! Dress up! My Man Suit!" I was shocked that out of the hundreds of people there we only saw one other Superman the entire night.
Peter loved this ghost sign. "Nice ghosts! Boo!"
"Hi nice ghost!"
Peter got a few new "costumes" this week. He needed some bigger pj's and I found a buy one, get one free sale at Carter's outlet. I dug in the racks and found pirate pj's and race car driver pj's. They are super cute and I hope they will last a bit longer than a traditional costume...plus he can actually sleep in them comfortably. Anyways, Peter now knows what a pirate is. We came home and he watched Peter Pan for the first time. He was fascinated by a Peter who could fly! When we got to the zoo they had a whole scene set up with a pirate boat and a pirate crew. Peter got kidnapped!!! Oh no!! Thankfully they were "Nice pirates" and let him go.
The zoo had a GREAT staff working. They were really nice and most of them were great with kids. They didn't come on too strong or too scary. When we first entered Peter was a little freaked out by all the spooky sounds and flickering pumpkins but once he learned he could get treats and that all the characters would give him high fives he calmed down and started smiling and having fun.
It was crazy crowded. We were packed like sardines and stuck in place being herded through the lines. That was the only downside. About halfway through we found some benches off to the side and decided to take a break from the craziness. Pregnant mommy had a bad back, daddy needed a break from the fog machines, and Peter just needed a little snack from his treat bucket.
Once we were on the road again we came across a Cow Hootenanny! They actually turned a section into a little barn and had a bunch of cows and cowboys dancing around. Peter stood around just watching for a minute or two then he started doing his own little hoedown. Super cute! He had the greatest time!
The highlight for him though had to be coming across all the superheroes! He found a super nice Super Girl who picked him up and taught him how to pose with his hand on his hip.
Then he ran into Spiderman, Iron Man, Batman, and a big Superman! He ran up to Superman yelling "MAN MAN!!! BIG man! Like Peter!" and he was jumping up and down his one hand in the air like he was trying to fly. Peter tried to have an entire conversation about being like Superman and flying. It was absolutely adorable!!! The whole walk to the car Peter talked about how he saw "Big Man" and he was "Little Man".
Peter had a lot of fun and it was actually a great experience despite the crowds. Probably one of the best put together Halloween things I've been to. Peter had a lot of fun and was completely fascinated by it all. He got a decent haul of candy plus coupons for free movies and pizza. And of course, every kid has to get a toothbrush on Halloween. :-)
We drove home under a full moon and Peter was just too excited to fall asleep in the car. He whined about wanting to get home and ended up clapping and squealing as we pulling into the driveway. It was a LONG bedtime and I don't think he fell asleep until after 10pm. We were all exhausted by then! I think its gonna be a long week with all the Halloween things we have planned! Oh well...its only for one week right?

Pumpkin Patch (Video)
Our favorite part of Apple Annie's is the pumpkin patch. They have beautiful pumpkins!
Upon arriving Peter climbed right up on the pumpkin display tower with a big smile across his face. He loves "Puh's" aka pumpkins.
He tried to pick them all up.
But he almost immediately gravitated to this little baby white pumpkin. If you look in the pictures of him in the corn maze he carried this pumpkin through the entire maze with him. He would not let it go.
After the corn maze and a little break we got on a hayride to be taken out to the pumpkin patch.
First we went past a sunflower field...bummer, sunflowers didn't turn out in the picture. Can you tell that Peter is practicing his "Superman" pose?
Finally we arrived at the pumpkin patch!
How exciting! Peter ran through the pumpkin patch. It was a little difficult because the vines are all over the place and the ground is uneven. He fell down a couple times but didn't seem to notice.
This one is "My puh! Peter puh, mom!"
After much searching Daddy got out the shears and cut a pumpkin off a vine for us. Peter wanted to try to carry it but it was too heavy for him.
It was a little easier for daddy. Now we just need to figure out what design to put on it!
We did also find another little white pumpkin for Peter so he ended up carrying that one back for us. That made him super happy. Our boy loves his white pumpkins! He just has to be different!
We got a little video of Peter on the hayride! He now knows what "hay" is too! He learned so much this trip! The best part of the whole trip though is that after getting home and getting a snack he ended up falling asleep for a nap around 3:30pm and slept straight through dinner, bathtime, bedtime and didn't wake up until 6am the next morning! Talk about wearing our boy out!

Corn Maze (Video)
This weekend we went for a drive out of town to visit Apple Annie's, a local farm. I use the term local very loosely since it is nearly a two hour long drive to get there. BUT once there we get to go to one of the best corn mazes around!
Apple Annie's also has a great pumpkin patch and was where we took Peter for his first Halloween. We decided to head back this year and try the corn maze again...it was much more fun without trying to push a stroller through the corn field!
The corn was crazy tall! I'd say a good few feet over John and my head's. Peter just took off down the pathway ready to go through the corn.
At some point he decided it was a race and started running out in front of us all excited. It was cute and fun for a while until he disappeared down one of the many corners and we didn't know which one. John and I spent a good minute running through the field yelling his name with no response. Thankfully another group had found him and led us to him. After that we made sure we kept up with him!
There were periodically signs in the corn where you needed to read a clue and choose the correct answer to determine which direction to turn. Once Peter figured out that we were looking for signs he ran right up to them yelling "Sign Sign!"
Hey, look! "More sign, mom!"
It took awhile for Peter to realize that the stalks we were walking in were the same kind of corn he eats at home.
After about 20 minutes we were ready to get out of the corn. Mommy and Peter were starting to go around in circles so Daddy took over and helped lead us out by following the sounds of the crowd outside.
Peter got kinda frustrated and tired so he sat down in the field. He learned the word "Lost" for the first time.
"Peter lost, mommy!"
Finally, though we got out. It took us less than 30 minutes, the estimated time. But not much less. We were all happy to be out. Peter quickly found a corn "sandbox" to play in and he hopped right on it. What a fun idea!!
He laid down and would swim around in all the dent corn. It got all in his shoes and clothes.
He was having a great time though. Even days later he still talks about "swimming in corn".
Peter had a great time in all the corn! I took a few videos of it. I tried to edit them all together, but my software is giving me issues. Here's a few of the fun clips we got!
