It's been a long week this week!
Tuesday I wasn't feeling great and went to my regular doctor's appointment. He was a little concerned so ordered a few lab tests then sent me to do my non-stress test. After about 2 hours of observation my blood pressure kept staying high and they were a little concerned so the OB on duty came in and told me that they were going to check me in for observation for 24 hours and to run a few more tests.
I was not prepared for this!!! I had gone in for my regular appointment and ended up not leaving for 36 hours. I had only my purse with me and John was at work! It was quite an ordeal to get settled into the hospital without any of my own comforts and without preparation.
I was just biting my nails waiting to hear the verdict whether I would go home that night or whether I'd be staying until I left with a baby! Ultimately, they did release me though I am teetering with early pre-eclampsia. Basically if I get full blown pre-eclampsia they will go ahead and induce me immediately. I was so thankful when they gave me a reprieve to go a little longer. It was nice to get home!
It was an interesting trial run. I know a little more about the hospital and what I now want to line up for when I go back. I will definately be putting a bag in the car each time I go in from now on. It was a little overwhelming to realize that next time most likely I WILL be coming home with a baby.
Latest ultrasound shows the baby boy at just over 7lbs. (Geez, and he still has a month to go?!?!?) He seemed to handle everything in stride and looked great on all the monitors, so that's always good news.
We are basically in countdown mode and biding our time between appointments. Still a little over 3 weeks to go, but it could be any day now! Especially if the doctors decide my body can't make it until the next appointment. I just think back to the beginning when the doctors gave me the impression I'd be lucky to make it until March! Now it's mid-March and he's still happily floating away! It's amazing!
I've pretty much gotten to the point where I'm crashing. My ribcage hurts like the dickens from being pushed out so far. I still wanna do a bunch of stuff around the house but whenever I do I end up being flat on the couch the whole next day.
My big accomplishment in the last week was that I got extra health insurance for me and baby. That was a huge relief...plus I got it JUST before going into the hospital. Awesome timing. Meant less stress while I was in there for 2 days.
Hmm...what else... I'm sending pictures of my big ol' belly. Kinda hard to deny that I'm pregnant these days. I keep thinking he can't get much bigger but I guess he's full of surprises!
